Principals

Kirsten Murray

With the firm for 17 years, Kirsten became a principal in 2004. A skilled project architect and manager, she has experience with design, site development planning and programming. Recent work includes 1st & Stewart Hotel development, 1111 East Pike Condos, Pratt Fine Arts Center, and numerous residences, large and small. A licensed architect, she has a M. Arch. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a B.S. degree in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado.

Alan Maskin

Alan joined the firm in 1992 (becoming a principal in 2004) working equally in the private and public realms. He has designed and managed museum projects, created an exhibit design division within the firm to support the museum projects, and designed and managed private residences. Notable current projects include the Noah’s Galleries at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA, and Alan directed and designed the film Sally Hemmings and designed sets and costumes for the Garrett Fisher opera, Stargazer. Alan is a 2006 NAUISI Fellow and was awarded a residency in Civita di Bagnoregio.

Stephen Yamada-Heidner

Stephen is a generalist architect with an active interest in sustainable design. With the firm since 1989, and a principal since 2004, his work has included the redesign of St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle and the Ebsworth Residence. Current projects include work on the Bellingham Art & Children’s Museum, the Wing Luke Asian Museum, the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, and a number of projects on the campus of Seattle University. Stephen holds a M. Arch. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a J.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco, and a B. A. degree from the University of California, Irvine.
