Poject Details
Art Stable is an urban infill project in the rapidly developing Cascade neighborhood of South Lake Union. The seven-story loft building will provide ground level retail, parking, and five units of adaptable live-work space. Each unit has 11’ 3” minimum ceiling height and floor-to-ceiling window walls.
The project employs simple, natural materials like concrete and steel used in their most natural state, window walls, and moving parts. The expressed concrete frame structure draws upon the warehouse typology of the transitional industrial neighborhood. A language of mutable infill panels allow for the building to provide mass and transparency as needed for each user and for variance over time. Large operable wall panels and a built in crane allow for lifting oversized objects like art and machinery into units. The building will incorporate hydronic heat, natural ventilation and active solar/photovoltaic technology.
