In this private lakefront estate, the architecture and land will work together to connect the low-rising waterfront to the site’s broad, south-facing lawn, and to provide seamless transitions between interior and exterior space. The main level will be firmly grounded to the broad lawn on the south entry side, and relax and float out above the lake to the north. A lower level will house spaces that relate directly to the casual activities on the lake frontage, while the upper level will serve as a private sanctuary. The way light will enter the interior spaces is a key factor in the design, balancing direct southern light with large, north-facing openings that face the lake view.
