This exhibit is dedicated to the boom years (1885 to 1910) of Seattle’s first residential neighborhood, and told through the eyes of Guendolyn Carkeek Plestcheeff, a woman whose memories of turn-of-the-century Seattle inspired the exhibit. Plestcheeff’s life is woven through all of the displays (a combination of artifacts, murals, life-size photo cutouts and memory books), creating a tapestry-like narrative in three dimensions. An overhead frieze parallels First Hill history with significant world events to provide a larger context.
