Poject Details
Daylight, rather than materials, articulates these spaces. This 30,000-square-foot project includes a new narthex and nave designed to reinforce the contemplation of the spiritual realm. Spare, deeply symbolic interiors are meant to embody the transcendent nature of faith; and similarly, the procession from landscape to courtyard to narthex to nave represents the journey from the place of the senses to the place of the spirit. The design evolved from significant collaboration with the congregation, whose members wanted to create a space that helped them focus on the spiritual.
