Poject Details
Winston Wachter Gallery specializes in contemporary works of art and was established in New York City in 1995. First opening in Seattle in 1999, the gallery sought to expand to better serve its clientele. Acquiring 4,600 square feet of space in a former wholesale flower shop, the design concept for the new space seeks to embrace the change in function (from flowers to art) by making the space’s previous life evident—new walls are pulled away from the pre-existing structure and the ceiling diffuses natural daylight into the gallery. New, central gallery walls pivot to convert the gallery space as needed to suit the scale and shape of the changing exhibits as artists and curators see fit.
