Poject Details

Overlooking a bluff on a saltwater bay, this project is a complete transformation of an existing house. The new design blends seamlessly into its surroundings and connects the outside to the inside through the use of oversized doors and large windows. Family activities center around a generous central space, which includes casual seating, a fireplace, an open dining area and kitchen, all contained within this single volume. Materials were chosen that get better as they age, and include recycled hardwood flooring, metals, and leather. Other functions include a media room, indoor activity room, home office, two day rooms, and three bedrooms. The landscape design takes its cues from plants found on the site, and transitions naturally from the mature forest to the meadow-like setting for the house. Several pieces of custom furniture were designed by the architects.
