This waterfront house is destined to be a Northwest classic; casual in its interior spatial arrangement, open to its natural setting, subtle in its materials and directly connected to its site. Hunkering into the hillside at its entry, walls extend from the house to protect terraces used for family-focused activities. Interior gathering spaces open freely to the waterside, while private spaces tend toward smaller, more intimate refuges. Strong horizontal rooflines, overhangs and site walls echo the line of the water’s edge act as a counterpoint to the strong verticality of the surrounding forest.
